Beautiful day @ Sugarbush!

Thursday, January 26th at 2:45 PM

You know it's going to be a beautiful day of skiing and riding when even thoughts of Friday's Winter Storm Warning are put on hold until 'apres' hours. So, until then, enjoy the sunshine, comfortable temps in the 20's, and certainly better-than-advertised frozen granular and loose granular conditions, especially while crushing the corduroy left by our groomers last night on 47 trails. Birch Run was my first destination this morning, as the past few days of huge mounds of man-made were turned into today's level playing field...nice! Not to be outdone, Mt. Ellen is more than worth the price of today's $30 Thursday lift ticket, with live music, drink specials, and free appetizers in the Green Mt. Lounge later this afternoon. While on the slopes, concentrate on your various levels of skiing and riding challenge, whether cruising, getting aggressive on some bumped-up steeps, or amped-up in one of two terrain parks (Mt. Ellen's Cabot Progression Park on Sugar Run or our 'signature' Riemergasse Park).

Other than Rumble and Domino, Lincoln Peak is currently back near 100% open, while Mt. Ellen sports all but 10 trails. Groomers plan to complete their passes on 49 runs tonight, including Stein's Run, before they're likely covered by a few inches of snow that's forecast to begin tonight. They'll be ready to repeat anything they can get to, if necessary, if icing from the middle part of the storm gives cause. Please be sure to check our morning updates, which should begin once Patrol has had their first opportunity to assess Friday morning conditions.
